Is it hard for you to stay positive when you feel your business is not getting the results you expected / wanted / need? In this post, I will walk you through 3 great tools you can use to stay positive in your business, even when you feel like your business is going nowhere!

It is so very important to stay positive, and focus on the positive. It is not the circumstances in your business, that determine how you feel, it is your THOUGHTS about those circumstances that determine those emotions. Just by changing how you look at your business and how you think about your business, can change how you feel too, and that can change your BUSINESS! So that is what we are going to tackle in this blog post!

Positive thinking quote

It is hard to stay positive when our business is not going as well as planned! Why? In my own experience, when my last business wasn’t doing so well, it is because we have so much of our heart and soul (and money) invested into the business, it makes up so much of who we ARE, that it is hard to stay positive when things are rough. And what I learn from clients, it is also the fact that we work so hard, we spend so much time on our businesses, we want to see RESULTS. And if we don’t see the results we want, we become disappointed and we start thinking “this will never happen” or “I am not sure I’ve got what it takes to make this business a success”.

And THOSE thoughts are the most unhelpful thoughts you can have in your business. So that’s why this article gives you 3 ways you can overcome them ✨

The power of positivity is limitless!

Tool 1: Use an evidence journal

A fantastic helpful tool that I’ve used both for myself and for clients, is an evidence journal, a little booklet in which you write down ALL the signs you see that you are going in the right direction (even if starting your business is taking way more time, effort, sleep and money than you ever expected 😬).

When things are not going as planned, it can feel hard to find that evidence, especially if there are no sales. But the evidence is there, if you know what to look for!

Here are 4 signs that you are headed the right direction, that are NOT sales / money. Write them down when you notice them for an instant boost of energy! You can also write them down every night before you go to bed. It is important to be consistent, so you consistently look at the positive evidence around you!

🍍 Feelings: feeling different / more empowered / more confident / more clear on your next steps / excited about your journey

🍍 Ideas: new ideas on what to do to grow your business that feel totally aligned, doable, right and exciting

🍍 Coincidences: amazing things that seem to happen out of nowhere, like things people tell you or things that happen, or people you meet.

🍍 Results: more followers, more website traffic, more interaction, more members inside your Facebook Group, more requests for a meeting, more customer service queries, etc etc.

Take 5 minutes every evening to write down all the evidence you noted during the day and you will see an amazing SHIFT in how you feel about your business! Which will then help soooo much in taking the actions you need to take with confidence and making that growth happen.

Tool 2: Look for support from positive people

Well this isn’t really a tool is it haha, but you know what I mean 😂. One of the biggest mistakes I made in the past, is struggling by myself. Not talking to other people, not asking for help and support, and even feeling like I was the ONLY person on the planet who was struggling like this. News flash: I wasn’t…

It can make a world of difference to be surrounded by like-minded people who can help you, who understand you, and who can support you. You can join a local entrepreneur club, you can join a Facebook Group (I happen to know a fantastic one haha), you can form a small accountability group, or a small mastermind group. The main thing to pay attention to is that the people in the group are positive thinkers who support you (no complaining and no competition).

Of course you can also consider hiring a coach, or joining a paid mastermind!

Tool 3: Writing and “destroying”

This morning, I woke up feeling negative. I launched a new coaching program yesterday and somehow launching something new ALWAYS triggers negative thoughts. No one will buy it! It is not interesting! So what I do when I notice this, is offload and release my negative thoughts.

This is how it works:

  1. Take a word file (you can also use pen and paper, or you can use the voice-to-text function on your computer or phone) and write down ALL your negative thoughts. Keep writing until no more thoughts come through.
  2. Acknowledge that these thoughts are not the truth, and you are not your thoughts. Then say goodbye to the thoughts and move on. You can do this by intentionally ripping the paper on which you wrote the thoughts, or (my favorite) burn the paper.

The point of this exercise is to offload your thoughts so you can clear your mind, and to create a physical representation of your negative thoughts that you can say goodbye to in a symbolic way, that feels good.

Tadaaa, that’s it, 3 ways to stay positive when things aren’t going as planned in your business! I’d be curious to know which one works best for you, let me know in the comments!
